Walmart, which is the world’s biggest retailer of Apple Watch and Apple products, announced Tuesday that it will sell an Apple Watch Series 3 smartwatch at an online retailer.
The $1.99 price tag is an all-time high for a smartwatch, but the $1 price tag does not include a $99 upgrade that adds a touchscreen display and cellular connectivity.
Apple Watch Series 2 was the only smartwatch to sell for more than $1 at retailers before the price hike, according to retail research firm IHS iSuppli.
The new model of the smartwatch will be available at select stores starting on August 18, the company said in a statement.
Walmart, which has been aggressively pushing its smartwatch line, said in January that it was increasing its smart watch prices to $99 starting August 18.
Apple Watch sales have remained flat since then.
